Hello dear ones,
first many many thanks for all the nice calls, cards and emails. I was so happy about every single message!
25.09.2009, Friday - Happy Birthday
This Friday was not much going on. Actually we should have Chinese classes in the morning. Since, however, have forgotten a few people to make the placement test, teaching was moved to Sunday ... ...
So I made Friday morning a little homework and then I went to the 13h CDC meeting went. The CDC is the Career Development Center of my department - the one with tips for career planning. That was not all that exciting of all things and we were all glad we were able to go after only 1 hour.
But then there were still a surprise:
went my phone when I was in college. And at the other end someone has to speak Chinese to me. So I got the phone in the Elli (F-MBA from the class) in the hand pressed and has arranged everything for me: I'm namely Flowers of Dan * GGG *
get Around 7 I then did a few other international students from my class met for dinner - that was really good.
And then we went to La Bamba (in a pub near the university). I'll tell you, that was something! I only had a few people may know. But in the end we were about 40 people. Ioana has reserved a nice way get a table for us all. The boys have taken care of beer and the girls have organized two cakes. Real hammer!
Well ... and then David has noted that in his home tradition, the birthday child is lifted on nem chair in the air ... you know what happened now? Which I have yet actually lifted up 25 times! Unbelievable!
But that's not all - there was of course more than once "Happy Birthday" sung, danced ... and we went to 11 o'clock every other pub in NEN moved on. Rob, also from my class has, by way funny at the same birthday - and the course had to be celebrated.
example, to 2 am I was (very early!) Back home - dancing in the club I unfortunately have to miss, because the next day it was supposed to go on ne-day tour ...
26.09.2009, Saturday - NATURE!
Jaaaa ... I is ... the normal length to get up the next morning, I like really hard. Especially since it has been raining outside and ...
But I so happy for so long on the trip, I'm totally gone.
about half past 9, a group has made international tourism / Beijing in front of the Hilton. And in nem small bus, we went with about 45 people going out of Beijing.
We drove south-west: plan was to look in the mountains along the Yongding River two ancient villages.
From Beijing we went out quite well. But then when we were in the mountains ... unfortunately we had to insert a longer pause, because there was a car accident.
I'll tell you, because two trucks drove in a minivan. With us, there would have been a lot of body damage - there were 4 deaths. The police took 3 whole hours to clear the road (and the ambulance was for a good 1 hour also sometimes on the spot!). It was a real tragedy!
any case, our bus could not go on. So what we have done? We have spent two grills, designed carpets and have simply seen by the road side barbecue :-)
went after about 3 hours there and then. However, as we have already lost 2 hours, we had very very little time to look into the villages. Too much was there but not to see. What has impressed me, however, was the landscape. Here are some pictures (click to enlarge).
27.09.2009, Sunday - "That is called Pinyin & ndash ; Pinyin
As we had announced on Sunday Chinese lessons. I'm really looking forward on it to finally learn Chinese properly. Unfortunately, our teacher's enthusiasm is not quite so divided. The classes consisted of heart rates and repetition to learn. We have neither an introduction to the Pinyin (the "Romanized" sign language) have, nor has it asked for our name or our level.
And frustrating, I have the feeling that all but me have a little Chinese can - in a beginner's course!
Hm ... I see a pressing need that I can learn even more and faster!
After class it was then straight back into the dorm. I had to write two papers that is done. One I've just corrected again (a journal on the topic "What are your thoughts about leadership, I declared the week? What have I learned?" * yawn *). But the housework for Managerial Thinking had to be written in full. Bad thing is that we have received no instructions about what to do. We have 2 texts and then it was only "Now write your memo about it." I then simply written summary ne alla "says Porter XX and XY Amsden adds." Hope that was somewhat correct - Feedback we have not received ...
28.09.2009, Monday - "? What is a Leader"
To 8am ( !) Leadership Class was announced. All of us have submitted our brave Journals (even if really had no significant plan, whether it is right that we have done). And then it started with the lessons. I'll spare you the details now and just want to say * yawn *.
But at least I get 5 extra points. We must namely, choose 5 people every week, have shown special leadership qualities - and then get 5 extra points - and I was last week (for whatever reason) one of the people that my class has chosen is * proud *.
went the rest of the day then again on it for homework.
And in the evening I sat down with Dipak (from India) made and we went together to a nearby Language School. Dipak taking Chinese lessons there and it should be quite good, I wanted to see the school again.
My first impression: very modern and nice and the teachers are super motivated. This method is a "repeat after me until you do it right," describe. Overall, I think it's very good that the eighth really close attention to the debate - which is extremely complicated, and Chinese that is adjacent to sing. However, I am simply no auditory learning ... hm ...
To 20pm was the lessons are over and we eat a little something left. And then ... I had to go back to the university. The next Day we had, in fact a presentation for Communication class and I had Larry (from my learning team) promised that I was practicing with him ... then bed time ... so to 23h
29.09.2009, Tuesday - "We deserve pizza '
time for the sunrise I woke up. I tell you, we had the last days of Autumnal total / hazy weather. The weather service says online but we should have sunshine ... We suspect therefore, that the government uses guns to rain on the National Day (Thursday) to have good weather. The spin the Chinese!
8.30 Communication class was announced. And everyone was really excited because we should show (or at least one person per study group). But before that it was the first time all kinds of ramblings ... I must confess that I am not the popular vote this class breaks. On the one hand, I think it's really great that the University makes a compulsory subject for all (especially since our Chinese parts never have presented). But then I hear it all now for the umpteenth time and it gets so slow just boring ...
any case, our presentation of the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. Larry has class and it really presents! The effort was worth it!
Afterwards, there was 4 hours Managerial Thinking. This is a subject that we should teach critical thinking and linking. Too much but we have also learned not here yet. And I have the feeling that Professor Gao does not like it so real, when we again speak his mind ... Hmm ...
For this class, we must in any case the Memos. And we have really hoping that it says something about it - after all we had to make so early as Monday. Sorry, unfortunately, Gao has lost not a word about it, so we have asked themselves after class. The answer was "just like last time, you do it once again" - not really helpful!
two study groups also had to write any memos, but to present the text in a presentation. What have we learned? If Prof is no precise instructions, you should demand before doing something. One group had in fact super much effort has but thanks to the lack of information about the totally wrong ... ... ... ... ....
counter 5:30 we were finally out of the university. And because some of my friends today Thinking presentation had (and we all have suffered in the classroom to animal boredom), we wanted to reward us. So there was to celebrate the day pizza and beer :-)
And then I got home I still Slumdog Millionaire viewed on the PC - very nice movie, but pretty heavy stuff ...
30.09.2009, Wednesday - PARTY!
Promptly at 8 o'clock it started with Leadership Class - and this time the discussions were even more boring and further away from the subject than Monday * yawn *
We have all so excited when we finally against 10 were allowed to go in Economics!
In Economics we have a pretty funny Prof. He is Chinese, but has long lived in the USA - and he has a Texan accent * lol *
Hm ... this is already the only positive , what can I say here ... everyone else would say that the teacher is super funny - somehow I understand the humor but not so distracted me from the more ...
We also raise the same with a Micro Economics - although most of my classmates still do not know about Macro Economics ... I'm curious if this works ...
So much for the official part of Wednesday. In the afternoon I did our homework in total for all (organization is not a Chinese strength and as we have on so much I hope it helps any). Full horror I then determined to 5 am, what time is it - at half past 6, I should meet me in front of the university with Dipak to go for Chinese lessons! Quick, quick ...
I decided at that school for this semester to take lessons. However, I see that once again I find 1-2 people who want to do with me NEN beginners. Dipak is already a level that is higher ... but let us see times ...
After class we have our bikes then at the Uni off, called a taxi and drove to our IMBA party. Yes ... the week! Why? We have eight days National Holidays * happy *.
The students have organized party - in a super send home! We drank beer (tastes here is clearly not as good as beer dt) and karaoke singing - that was super funny :-)
AND ... I found out that Matt from the course 2 NEN trip to the United ; e wall plans. So I have got the same views nen space reserved for Friday ^ ^
Yes ... gone as far to the days. Today is National Day and that is really crazy! You have to observe the military parade on TV / Internet watch - really crazy! Learn more about this next time!
I'll keep all of Victoria
