What so called holiday ...

Halli hallo,

's me again. And a first; phew! So the vacation was no! And next: special greetings go this time to Max, who is just back from Africa and my grandma and my grandpa, the wave is the reports are from my parents (* wink * ) send in print can :-)

Thursday exactly one week ago, 01.10.2009 - was unity, justice and freedom ... or so

The Thursday the reason for the holidays: National Day. And not just any, it was the 60 anniversary of the PRC!

And as befits a red one country must of course be celebrated. I give; International we were a bit pissed from all the fuss: the underground trains were locked into the City Centre you could not for days and all of China was on its feet (which has meant that we stayed at home beautiful ).

I started on this day so good with their homework and watched on television alongside the parade. And yes, I must say - that was very impressive. First, you have seen all the high politicians, as they have examined the Tian'anmen the military. Then there there is a military parade (* yawn *) and then were like a carnival floats shown with different themes. They had then such illustrious names as "achievements of the art '(= etc. was 1 Chinese astronaut on the car)," Nurses for more social conscience "(= promotion of the 1 child policy)," Together to sporting success "(= car with all Olympic medal winners), or" opportunity through education '(= etc. there are a few of my fellow students were obliged to join in). The first part of the parade was about 1 hour - the second approximately 2! I have not seen everything, but I am still deeply impressed . That was a real propaganda spectacle with more than 100,000 participants and everything super well organized by (who also practiced for weeks) and at the end even I've said: "These are great achievements - this is a great country ". have

As mentioned some of our fellow students as participated in the celebration, there was a great welcome party on the sports field. The big band played and the great weather we have taken the opportunity away from the homework to . Come As you can see Patrick and I are already well integrated ;-)

In the evening there was still a 3 hour long sing-dance fireworks (which by the way broken the world record). That was soooo nice to see (on TV of course)!

And yes, I confess a bit of German reporting. Have mainly emphasized the military part of China for foreign shows the teeth, etc. But I can you say, the show had focused less on the military than on the "Carnival". And it was not really intended for residents rather than for China to raise the national pride and unite the country even further (because the Chinese see themselves in it that is a problem!).

What is even more noteworthy was the weather: the sky was overcast days earlier / smogig. And on the national holiday (and the whole week) we had clear blue skies and sunshine. How so? Weather guns - which are here but really as it, that they are about to send rain on your party just so they have nice weather have!

Friday, 02/10/2009 - Wall, we are

As already mentioned we are on this day to the Great Wall at Mutianyu (so hot , t the section there) down. Actually, the trip takes only then, almost 2 hours. However, we have already used up two hours we were on the highway outside of Beijing - everyone wanted for this beautiful weather out of the Moloch!

counter 12pm we were finally on the wall and ... oh surprise surprise ... there was relatively little going on. After a quick lunch, we have set ourselves in the cable car and drove up on the wall. The wall was built on mountain ridge that is here - we would have to walk up ... but rather not ...

At the top we had a breathtaking view! This we have enjoyed for about 1 hour while we have run in bright sunshine along the wall. And even if the wall here is restored, the ups and downs going up one day but pretty hard on the muscles! How good that we do not end up running down but had to sit quite comfortably in a summer toboggan run could have :-)

If the builders knew what to do with barbarians the wall ... * laugh *

(I know its been keen on the images of the Great Wall, so I've uploaded a lot - to make larger just click on it!)

wanted to go to the wall we actually still watch the Ming Tombs nearby. As these close but already by 4 clock (and yes we had spent 2 hours in Beijing traffic), we drove back towards university. The return trip was very uneventful: no traffic jams and all have been sleeping (oh forgot, we had rented us a mini-bus to 10 with a driver - very convenient). At the conclusion the day we are then still eat delicious Indian gone :-)

Saturday, 03/10/2009 - hm ...

beautiful national holiday in Germany. I must say, it's a bit embarrassing as we celebrate our national day - especially after I saw the Chinese. But oh well ...

Now I have to grade me think very sharp ... what have I done Saturday? Oh yes, homework ...

I have to explain maybe short, we have 8 days off. They are the only days in the year, the Chinese at a time to spare. So is the whole of China on the legs and the Rumreisen. Thursday was National Day, and so today, on Saturday, is something like "co-Autumn Festival". This is one of the biggest festivals and probably most comparable to "family meeting".

But back to the homework: Since we have released eight days (and probably to do nothing else), we have lots of homework, get open: 4 papers in each subject read and in almost every subject or case studies. This is not really celebrated!

Therefore you will also "I've done homework" Read more in this report ;-)

Saturday I made so homework. And in the evening were Darren, Li, Ioana and I in the D22, a Studentenpub nearby. There, namely Chinese rock bands that played live (and at a very reasonable price). We therefore now and totally happy. The pub was really great: the even had an antique foosball table (so one of the still * pling * makes when you kick the ball) - which was one of us first once seized. And then the band started playing. I must confess that I have understood nothing of the poetry. But the tunes were great. Goofy was that it was running way too so we went to just over 1 hour again and indulged us in The Ants have malwieder Spaghetti * happy *.

Sunday, 04/10/2009 - Can we really eat?

said on Sunday it again in the morning to do homework. 11am against me but I've already met with Darren and we are using the subway in the city down (which stops at Tiananmen were still blocked the way).

Our goal was a shopping area in the City. And that was really huge, which would have to be everywhere: Munich, Berlin, London, NY ... super new, super big, super expensive! Actually we wanted to go since only the two major book stores around us to get textbooks nuja ... ... we would then have enjoyed the huge weather and are a little run around.

And then we are in a mini small side street inflected, and ... were in ancient China. Everywhere were people. right and left, it was small food stalls or shops belly and all, it was a crazy smell (not bad) and noise. Since there was by Chinese and Kebab Wraps and fruits in sugar but also so weird things like "deep-fried scorpions in the closet" (and have before frying the gezappelt still in the closet!). Total madness!

Monday, 10/05/2009 - Homework

is too much of Monday's not to report, I have homework and met me for lunch with fellow students. That's it. The normal university life halt ;-)

But no, we had that day 2 highlights: on the one Patrick and I have decided some of the homework in the park to make jippi * *. Second, we had a info on our door that the hot water pipes are repaired, and we therefore, for the next 2 days do not have hot water (and the security they have the faucet in the shower just in red tape sealed!) ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Tuesday, 10/06/2009 - Shopping!

I got up very early on Tuesday because I wanted to make up a bit done. 10am and we went to go towards the underground and from there to Xidan. At exactly 11am I met there, Xiaowei. She is Chinese, studying German here in Beijing and I was written several months ago and asked if I like their language partner to be * happy *

lunch (Japanese), we chatted a bit - her German is really very very good . Since one can correctly be jealous!

Then we went to shop. We have ignored the large modern department store and have plunged us into the side streets instead. There were all sold very many small shops, the clothes, shoes and knick-knacks. First, we both have purchased an over-drawn part. That was really funny: the vendor has filled in a note. Which we then went to a makeshift box office and paid for. There we will receive a stamp and so we went to another fund where the checks where we paid for have - there was still a punch. And with the document we went back to the vendor that has given us the clothes. So you can also create jobs :-)

Xiaowei has then subsequently purchased a small shop "DocMartens. For the equivalent of 20 € * laughs *. Fully loaded, we are then streaked through the streets with the ultimate in a kind of department store to end. Dad, would you in there by turn - note that no single theory Sale!

You have the shops you Here, as a huge bazaar imagine. There is a rieeeesigen room. And is divided into small compartments gaaaaanz. And these compartments provide shop-in-shop systems (more or less) there. Stores are sorted by content (bags to bags, shoes shoes ...) but that's it. And each store has 2-3 sales staff (to about 3qm) and no dressing. Who buys what must rely on it so easy that it fits * laughs *. In addition, one must necessarily act here. Example: I wanted to buy a knit dress and a blouse. The price was 200 RMB to the knit dress and the blouse again 40RMB. Actually quite cheap. After Xiaowei, however, negotiating with the seller has (1000 thanks to them!), I get both for 160RMB (and even that seems to me still remains high). Yes ... it still has to get used to :-)

have been sleeping in all, we really are: I have purchased a total of 6 pieces (knitted dress, stall sweatshirt, sweater, 2 turtle neck and a blouse) and have lunch with a total and all paid about 30 €! Real awesome!

completely broken I am opposed to 5 am again been at home. And there was Tuesday ... it was the first time a pizza along with Patrick. Tuesday is the fact Pizzatag!

And then ... right ... homework up to 24h. They do in fact, despite much persuasion still not by itself :-(

Wednesday, 07.10.2009 - It herbstelt

morning I am earlier , h got up and got me on animal got ne hot shower yesterday namely the water was shut off completely but this morning it should work again ... If that is again unfortunately I had cold shower ... Too soon got..!

The morning was once again filled with learning.

For lunch I then Helen finally seen again. Helen was in my Orientation Week Group, and has been, unfortunately, in class 2, that we never see. So it was really great just to chat a bit again. Unfortunately, they also had to go again soon, so I again was able to devote my homework - how great!

The day is not much else happens. The weather was foggy / smoggy and the temperatures are within the week very well liked - now takes quite sweater and a jacket when you go out! In addition, the sun has gone to who knows where ...

sit indoors so is not a bad decision!

I'm busy all day Wednesday with the accounting. Our book "speaks" as if we were all limited. And it has too many colors - because you get almost eye cancer. However, I have read the first 3 chapters and made all the necessary tasks. Amazing was that I still remember very much of what we have learned that time in BA! Fascinating. Unfortunately, my numbers but not yet risen :-(

And in the evening then hung another note on the door that they now repair the pumps and therefore we again have no hot water ...

The problem was fortunately resolved in the night (yes, that is possible in China !) and so there were only few problems!

Thursday (today), 08.10.2009 - last holiday * power on *

What have I done now for homework? I got my book for the Book Review was read (not hard since I one with tactical "only chose 100 pages in German ". Was very good: Socrates for Managers "by A. Drosdek). I've also both texts for Managerial Thinking read (Mintzberg on the Design School and Chandler on headquarters of large companies * yawn *). I have almost all the homework done for accounting and for Economics (which I should read here another 2 chapters). Also, I'm all for Communication and read half of Leadership. Not too bad you would think ... Were it not for the 4 papers.

Today's task was therefore rewrite the two messages for Thinking about the two articles. And yes, I'm so proud! You may praise me! I have this morning posted the article on Mintzberg and in the afternoon "are the 1st and the 2nd district and the worst case scenario then the scores for Chandler (both for Professor Gao and so we say * laugh *). Read about it again tomorrow and then I can give on Monday Sun

thus still missing the Journal of Leadership: we will simply summarize what's thought-leadership we have made over the week ... hm ...

comes to that the presentation for Tuesday (a belief that presentation ... ... ... enthusiasm has its limits).

I'm glad God that I've written two memos. They were not easy (especially since we do not know what are the requirements and formulate Gao these also do not want / can). Tomorrow we have morning and afternoon, a Chinese Study Group Meeting on Accounting (Oops ... should read the case study I did!). Saturday we (exceptionally) Accounting. And then the whole Sunday is something to worry about homework - this will be a great weekend * lol *.

Yes ... so much for my recent "vacation" week. As you can see - we work hard - and have fun, too ;-) incidentally

I'll keep everyone

Victoria
