Fire Protection Pressure Calculation

Greetings from Logan Airport, Boston

Hello together,

first and second, it is different than you think and third, yet everything is good.

less how it's just me. First, I would have to actually have been a good 6 hours in Germany are. Secondly, I was then booked on a flight the day after tomorrow. And thirdly, I had this morning more than luck was released as a seat in Stuttgart over Atlanta. Accordingly, I'm sitting at Gate A16 in Logan Airport, waiting for the plane to Atlanta (which has delayed the expected way). Boarding is in about 30 minutes and leaves me even more time just finally download the high U.S. images. Have fun and see you in Germany :-)

In August Dan and I were with his parents in Texas. After the cold summer in Germany, the heat did really well there. Dallas itself was very very very boring. Rodeo was super cool and interesting than baseball live on television.

On 1 September went off to college. Before that, I am still moved into my new old house (far left). After researching the university and learn the local idiosyncrasies (the horse is called Rudi and is the mascot of Yale SOM), it was already on tour to Boston (3rd from left) and New York (far right).
Hm .. finally boarded the plane ... must work faster ;-)

In October, the golf lessons started with a plate ... But it was still so warm that we have identified the nix (and as you can see the seal at the Boston Aquarium enjoying the sun). With such great weather we like to have explored the Yale campus (Commons Hall Patrick and me in front top and SOM). The Indian Summer was particularly impressive in the train from Boston to New Haven. And the end of October I was on the compulsory Halloween Party :-)

in November can be described almost as relaxing month - at least according to the Mid-term exams ...
first I was with the Q + Club of SOM in Vermont on a Luxushuette. All day eating (middle) and then relax in the Jacuzzi and sauna (but unfortunately only a weekend long * cry *). Beended was the month with a super super delicious Thanksgiving turkey made by Terry (and Patrick and me).

Well ... and then it was already December. Beginning December before the exams started, I was at the Winter Ball at the School of Management (as you can see the theme was "Mad Man Style"). At Tsinghua final pizza we have then discovered the first hamburger shack in the USA (@ Mama: a photo just for you) and photographed while going home to the (super cheesy) Christmas tree.

Hm .. as fast a semester is summarized. And just in time for boarding
:-) I'll then stand in line, sometimes slowly ('m after for a good 5 hours to the counter yesterday pending the queuing gets used * wink *).

I'll keep all and see you soon in Germany,
Victoria

Skurilitaeten in the U.S.

dearest friends, Acquaintances, family and other readers'

weekend I had leisure time to me and sat down to write a blogg entry. However, this time it is not about my experiences here in the U.S. (I'm still working on the record) but rather the Skurilitaeten of this country. And although we, the U.S. constantly on TV, in books, newspapers ... have, there are many things you will notice only when one is even longer. And (the raise no claim to completeness), this whole "Kopfschuettel" situations I want to tell you here and now. Have fun reading :-)

- Before I even flew to the U.S., I was excited about something. Dan and I wanted to fly directly to my arrival on to Texas. Since I had two suitcase (only because of the Kg, not because of the mass), I wanted to be one of them in Boston. So I spent an entire day in Boston to check lockers. The second call (the main station) I was told that since 9 / 11 (which is known to be quite a while ago) across the United States are no lockers more ... If you ask me that is the definition of paranoia!

- I've told you already standing by the toilets in China. The toilet construction in the U.S. (at least in public places) is again completely different ... the front of the toilet seat missing ... instead of one round glasses, you sit (rather woman) on a semi-circle ... some getting used to I must confess is

- The "how are you" - cliché we know in Germany. Only here it is clearly the top of the famous American face of it dar. occurs, for several times daily, that people in passing, meets, the one asking "how are you?" and before you even "thanks, pretty good" (the expected standard answer!) can say is the Opposite even further gone ... As I said, and shallow

- After Halloween Thanksgiving Christmas follows below. Since it comes from the feasting and celebrations really not get out. A little shocked I was then, however, but as I the day after Thanksgiving (late November) the first Tannenbaeume have seen in the living room ... Bißle overzealous, is not it?

- As a business student (and especially because I come from the marketing), I am still very over the ads here wondering * wink wink to Sabine *. If you turn on the TV falls on a first, that there are many insane station (we are talking about over 600 !!!). The next, then, is that on each channel (if it is not known a priori to be "shopping") all for about 5min 10min advertising is. If we make the effort this advertising is to see once you that they a) part is very very cheap, b) usually it advertises that fault people to save even more / should / can you help out of debt to get out, c ) it is cut in part at the beginning or end (ie very poor quality) and d) that basically all the ads in medicine (!) side effects are called ... I tell you - there goes a smooth as the television (although not as great shows like Bones, Psych or Americas Next Top Model would have * haha *)

- For car trips, I noticed how strange the road rules are here. First of all must be said that the lights never (!) are synchronized. That is when I drive home from the university (in Yale's own and free shuttle service * g *), then I can, depending on the traffic situation between 5min and 15min need. But even as a pedestrian it annoys immensely if you need to wait up to 5 minutes until the light finally displaying "Go" (the equivalent to our "green").
In addition, the highways are quite peculiar. You may not normally go more than 60mph (less than 120 KMH) - even if everything free and the Street super straight. There is not Rechtsfahr-/Linksueberhol-Regel it here so that it can still be a little chaotic. And the ultimate Skurilitaet: there are lanes that are used only by those sitting in those cars are allowed more than one person! (That I think says a lot about after the ride and thus wasting habits from the Americans).

- If we are just at a waste. It is amazing to see how they produce here in today's garbage. The Yale School of Management is an environmentally and socially conscious institution. But even here, everywhere are plastic bags, paper cups, plastic bottles (without deposit) and polystyrene Essensbehaelter rum. It really is a crazy how these resources are wasted in the United States. gave her own support in China would trash the better separated and were returnable packaging used! As a conscious Germans as recycling is almost bad ...

- I find very very strangely indeed our house in winter. Do not get me wrong - our house is super nice: great decoration and practical eingerichtet (wenn auch immer sehr dreckig – Maennerhaushalt!). But strangely, the isolations. From Scotland, I know already that we really build in Germany de lux homes. Since the U.S. is, however, in many cases as a pioneer and role model, I was somewhat shocked when I following noticed was: no wall insulation, no cellar (replaced with storage spaces), no central heating (but hot air from Schaechter in the ground / in the wall comes), no 2-temperature water cock (but for a cold and for hot water, then that (medieval) mix is required), but no cooking gas fields (even the dormitory where I find it so really dangerous). I could so on forever tell, but instead you want to speak about a 'special': the windows. In the summer I've already seen that we do not have double-glazed, but the outside and a fly screen (about 10 cm away) Single glass. When I tried airing of a day like every morning I was then very surprised that the air in the room for hours did not become better / cooler. Investigations have shown the window - the screen door was replaced by a second (even simple) glass ... Ade fresh air!
