first of all thank you very much for all the comments and e-mails. That feels really good and I feel thanks to the Internet not to be quite so far away (although the time lag of 6h feels really weird).

Very special greetings go this time of jasmine, which is unfortunately ill in Nuremberg. Sweet, I press you and wish you quick and speedy recovery!

So what's happened over the weekend ...

Saturday: 29/08/2009 - Keep rolling

I have not been announced, too much done. I've slept in the morning (as long as every morning to a train passed by and honked added. I think that makes the intentionally to annoy me!). Then I've only once the blog set up (which was quite a lot of work before I actually had to go to Julia, that is Blogspot - although the site is blocked). But reliance on LJ containing ;-)

BTW: I have the settings changed so that now every "anonymous" can leave comments and we are no longer forced to login.

Then I wanted to go buy what to eat only fast. So I get out of the campus (east exit, the confusingly "West Exit" means). Unfortunately there because no shops, so I to the south exit had to run ... which is about 2km. Once there I found that I landed in a shopping metropolitan area: A shop / general store / shopping center at the other! Since I was overwhelmed smooth times where I should first point. And what do you do in this situation? Correct; follow the crowd.

'm wandering around after a good 1 hour, I then by chance that the U-Bahn-Station found (the loud card "around the corner" to be). So I then I finally bought something to eat: A kind of pancake with egg, green onions, sauce and something indefinable (I think it was something from soy, biting). And this was it is a drink that in the picture looked like iced tea, but has been out with a water spray glibberartiger - sounds disgusting, but was not so bad. Less me, however, has tasted the food (which ended up half in the trash - again learned something).

I did not want to walk all the way from the south again up to my dorm, it said on the way back then "Mission bicycle purchase".

My Buddy (a student from NEM higher semester who take care of me - Unfortunately, however, currently by mail), has meant that at the eastern entrance is directly a good bike shop. I have however not found. So I'm after some hesitation into a side street at the south entrance, where a trust was looking bicycle sales.

The seller ("No English") came right at me and showed me different wheels. But I've already fallen in love with the clean steps into one. And after a little looking around and informed (= hands and feet, and spelling) I then decided for that. The seller told me then mounted NEN bicycle basket on it (not here nothing goes!) And polished the bike again, and I was allowed to pick a lock (also an important bicycle accessory!). For only 230yuan (about 23 €) so I'm now a brand new bike! (And I am convinced that the price is extremely cheap though is still a tourist price - but who cares).

And as Julia said: "Every movement needs a middle name. So I got my bike to "Butterfly" baptized (which was very easy, as the name implies it says).

So I went for the first time very cool on campus gecruised * laughs *. I tell you, on foot I would never have done - the campus is really huge and one can get lost easily.

Ua I have the hospital here, the fish pond, a park and found my University Buildings.

I tell you: I am SOOOOO proud of myself that I got the bike out a sale without problems. And I LOVE my new bike. (* * Reusper the sentence you would have in Dt never heard of me, but here's a bike is simply essential).

At about 15h I was then back in the dorm (after I've yet quickly bought an extension cord for the laptop - there go our way easily plug in).

My plan calls for the afternoon was actually with Dan and my parents on Skype. Abe has been online as Dan then found out that ... the sound of Mama's laptop card (which I for Internet users) is broken and therefore my normal headset does not work, that I need with a USB end. So back on the bike (I love it!) And in the shop. Since the seller has then either do not understand what I want, or they were really not there. Instead skype gabs then only chat L

My mission for Monday morning is to say "Headset with USB port related after I've found somewhere NEN Elektronik-/Computerladen.

Easy would be simple to connect my laptop to the Internet but ... I trust the whole not 100% and I do not feel that then the whole world knows what I'm on the laptop (hot what should not that something illegal or something on it - it is purely out of principle!).

evening I wanted to go out with Marta. We had phoned on Friday and she meant that she has just visited there, but would get in touch again. Hm ... so far I have nothing more heard of her. Consequently, I've made myself a cozy evening at home.

Sunday, 30/08/2009 - Shopping and Eating

morning I was back to the train awakened shortly after 8. Very charming! After the mail check I then decided to shower. What a wrong decision was: in the morning, there is only 7-9 hot water. I think they will bring their students to get up early, which leaves more time for studying and less time to make mischief in the evening ... Dad, maybe that would be a strategy for the BA? ;-)

Anyway, I've phoned Simon if he feels like something to do. At 11 we have therefore taken at the south entrance and are a little run in the area around. Simon is a Canadian Chinese, and I could really help with his Mandarin. Here, I'm so buying a metro card * happy * to

(to which we are also accompanied Jack, another classmate and Koreans) At about 12 we went to dinner. This was really delicious compare with anything that is called in Dt "Chinese food".

After the delicious meal (one I was full!) Are we then to third in the direction of a shopping center broken. You heard right: they have here on Sundays!

Once there ... WOW ... everything here is so larger than life! We were there in a 10-storey department store only (!) For electric stuff. And a shop / stall lined up to the next. And still it took a while until we found a suitable headset (for 130RMB, which is relatively expensive). This was the "Mission Headset" also done so * happy *

While Jack is in the shop or mobile phones has been viewed (all copies of course), are Simon and I walked around a bit and have ... no joke ... an H & M and C & A and Steiff and Lacoste and Armani ... and all the expensive shops western discovered. It was really strange because the road looked Brand new and super modern, while in the background, old apartment buildings and an old house are up projects ...

Phew! After we spent half the day running around, we are 3 then the subway (even super modern) drove back to campus. There did the two then see my room in the dormitory (because the two have an apartment rented out). But who would ever want to go the distance? Consequently, we have for the two men first bought bikes. And while we are then to me, it started to rain and even thunderstorms ... as it is now well again 18h was, it was "dinner time". Yes ... I must admit I was really hungry or not ... but hey ...

So went out into the rain and the next restaurant - in which we arrived soaking splash (in the picture you see Simon).

But I tell you: that has paid off. I had no hunger, but it was just too good not to eat!

Sodella! And now it's almost 21h and I sit to burst fed and dry again at home in the rooms ...

morning I go my Certificate pick up visas and change registered. Keep your fingers crossed that everything works!

Welcome to Beijing

oppressive Hello dear ones,

phew! So now I'm arriving in Beijing, and it can not even grasp that I'm here ...

The flight was fairly uneventful: At 8 I was so tired that I just wanted to sleep. Around 21.30 there was dinner, and so at 3 clock (dt time) already breakfast. Although were the seats really uncomfortable sometimes, but that the service was great. And I could sleep a little. Just a pity that we have landed, just as on TV "Bedtime Stories" came ...

Thursday, 8/27/2009: Day 1 - Arrive

any case, the check out took some time: brush teeth only once, then through customs, then by train (!) to the baggage pick up, then again through customs, then drink only once NEN Mocca Chino (in Dt. clearly tastes better), then in a taxi and from the university.

This part was so easy and I was around 2 at the Tsinghua University. And then ... with my Huge 30kg baggage (+ 2 laptops + backpack and jacket) at 30 ° C to register:

Tomorrow it is then let "Health Certificate" validate (as soon as I found out where is the hospital). Make copies for the registration (the copier is, of course, on the other end of campus). And register of course.

Hm ... and then I have to figure out how this works with the Medical Insurance. Apparently I need that is still an extra ... We'll see ...

Friday, 28/08/2009: Day 2 - For every problem there is a solution

Man I slept badly! But what the hell ... was to be expected so ... However, I got up at 8am and I've an empty stomach in search of the hospital made (opening times: 9 - 11 clock). First problem: The reception could not speak English, so I unfortunately do not explain where I have to go. Solution: 2 international students by grade gone and one is for me Int. Office to pick up NEN plan and then put me in a taxi.

At the hospital (which is probably on the edge - at least near a wooded hillside on which a temple or something is - do not ask me where that was!) Then only by 2 documents fill ( à are here bureaucratic than in Dt) and put in the snake. ... And find that it is a fee of up to 700 yuan (70 €) must be paid in cash but no cash has more. Problem 2: Where can I get a bank ago, which gives me money even though I'm still not ne ne VISA MASTER No! Solution: (all of which have excellent spoken Chinese) Ne group of Americans has asked me for directions so I was after only 30 minutes at the bank where ... (problem 3) only the director who spoke English. The director then was super friendly to me (wait for about 20min) but stated that, unfortunately, neither Visa nor Mastercard can take any code. Solution: In my desperation I've even kept it a Maestro and miracle oh miracle ... who has worked at the machine.

With the money that is returned from the hospital to run (at nearly 30 ° C) and queue again. Meanwhile it was already 10:30 and I just pressed my fingers crossed that everything is okay and I have to do any more tests. Problem 4: The nice lady at the registration has taken all my things in and stamped receipt. Only the blood tests she shook her head that those were copies and not originals. Solution: I have explained her that my doctor has given them to me so that doctors and issue the documents is the only way and that in fact the originals are and * bang * was the stamp on it.

with fruit, tea, writing materials and Internet cable so we went into the back room to 15h. Looking for something it was the cable into the jack ( -> who is hiding behind the bookcase?) And ... Internet goes. Sorry, but somehow "down you have change the type of connection to international student via this drop" only Google and no mail and nothing ... hm ... So back to the Internet Office, where the guy says to me.

As it was now even after 19h, the priority for the first time then the direction of "food" has moved. So I trudged and go after just about the mass that is ... in the cafeteria. Mist: canteen card, I must still get on Sat. So continue to run ... I have a McD discovered! So to make this clear: McD says here and QQ has anywhere near the same things as at home. Salads do not exist. But various chicken dishes. Then back to the dorm around the Internet to make clear. After just a few clicks: It works!

Bike buy, maybe go swimming (if I find the swimming pool), was hit with Martina (NER friends from the VZ) and Simon (a fellow student) calls, and ... hm ... I think the ' s. Mon then get canteen card, Health Certificate Register and pick up.

Phew! Much then once the first status report. I will do my best to write regularly in the future. But I can promise nothing yet ...
